Should you have more than one blog?

HAVE MANY THEMES IN MIND?

It is good if you have a specific goal

We have more than one purpose to life and many learning that can be compartmentalised into various themes.

Long story short — there is a need for multiple outlets to let your thoughts out if you have multiple areas of interest; and indulge in all of them.

Writing under a pen/brand name can be a personal and easy choice for some writers.

More often, there is an emotional impulse to have one grand blog, that is famous, that is everything, that is the love of your life.

The idea of having multiple blogs is tossed into the bin due to these emotional impulses.

But it can be a mistake.

Many questions arise in the mind —

Will I be able to maintain two blogs?

What about the overlaps of my personality with my business?

Where do I even start to segregate things?

All this confusion will knowingly and unknowingly urge you to stick to one blog.

But is it really a logical answer?

Is it a well-informed decision?

You may disregard the idea of having multiple blogs after reading this, but you will be sure of what you don’t really want.

A current of scepticism lies underneath.

Are you confusing your audience with too many themes blended together?

I did a mind mapping and brainstorming on this subject to find a more logical outcome to this question.

To understand this dichotomy, let\’s take a methodological approach.

Public, Personal and Private

We live in this trilogy.

We have a Public life — Things that everyone knows or you want to let them know.

We have Personal Life — Things that you share with an intimate circle, close friends and family.

And then you have a Private life — This only you know about yourself. Your well-kept secrets.

Private

Exhibiting the Private life is out of the question. There is a reason why you haven’t told that to anyone. Let\’s keep it that way.

Personal

This is like hugging your friend.

Things you can tell your mom.

A casual conversation with your lover.

These can also be things that you experience as an individual.

A meditative state, or the way you felt about a painting.

OR it can be silly things like bedtime stories for the cat.

To some degree, this can be a topic you can blog about.

In fact — I love the people who share such personal experiences.

I speak from this personal space and many times get an urge to write about it.

Public

Shout as loud as you can!

Okay, let\’s put a banner in your hand.

Will you do it in your home, sticking the banner on your mom\’s face and shouting a slogan?

For fun, I don’t mind trying it.

But it is not rational.

Then this is a good time to ask yourself: will put such writing on your personal blog, which is home for more personal and intimate stories?

I share only business on OK The Fun.

It offers clarity and conviction in the attempt to express what I want.

I know it is about helping people.

It helps me to keep it about business, marketing and luxury.

Experiment

Keeping things separate helps you experiment.

As experimenting itself needs a premise.

A direction to look at.

I have experimented a lot with Okthefun.

I might as well venture out to visual blogs or comics (just letting it out)

let\’s see how it goes.

It is beautiful to see something evolve in front of you.

And it is always a good idea to give it a personal space to incubate and a public space to exhibit.
