Embracing Abstraction: The Path to Mindful Decision-Making and Personal Growth

GROW UP AND GROW OUT

How Abstraction can bring maturity and clarity to life.

Outgrown — By Daigo

Maturity is not about growing up. It is about growing out.

Growing out of the childish ideas of perfection.

Discarding the access, you can choose from the bouquet of possibilities.

Finding simple solutions for complicated problems.

Abstraction.

The problem arises when we have to choose. If you seek the real cause of the problem it always boils down to choices we make in our life.

What career to choose?

How my life partner should be?

Which books should I read?

What are the things that I can do and what are the things that I should do?

Choices have brought us where we are. But most of the choices that we have made were made in chaos.

Despite choosing we were not certain about the choices that we have made so far.

How to be more calm about making choices?

Can we bring certainty to our choice?

Can we choose wisely?

We are faced with these decisions every day.

And there should be a way to decide, not based on what conventional wisdom would push us into, but what our inner institutions guide us toward.

Abstraction

Making life more fruitful and productive is not about what you can add to your existing schedule.

Especially when you have too much on your plate, abstract the things that are working and things that you love to do.

Discard the access and don’t be emotional about it.

Being aligned with the minimal things that are helpful in survival and enjoyment will add bliss to your life.

Abstract thinking solves the complex problem of life.

It is not about how much more you can do or have, but what you are willing to let go.

Abstraction is cleaning the closet of the mind.

It might sound easy, but needs persistent work to master the art of abstraction.

Picasso took nearly 20 years to reach the barebones of the subjects of his mind.

It needs courage and maturity to know what you need and what you don’t.

It\’s not about what the marketplace has to offer, but more about what you want from the marketplace.

Clarity and Maturity.

Mindfulness

Bring your mediation out of the sessions.

Let every moment of your life be meditative

Mindful.

Be aware of yourself in the moments of decision-making.

If you are about to buy something, reflect upon your state of mind and reproductions of your decision

Do you need an extra pair of shoes?

Do you need to add a new product to your online shop?

Do you need to offer one more service to your potential clients?

Will it solve the purpose of simplifying things for you in life?

OR will they add to the complexities?

If you want to do it anyway, what would be the simplest way to do it?

Explore meditation and self-reflection techniques to enhance your mindfulness.

Trust Your Intuition

We often live a life of borrowed aspirations.

While it is great to have inspirations and ideals in your field, it can be deceiving to have the aspirations they have.

No one is you.

Nobody understands the way you understand yourself.

And only you know what you want and where to go.

Pause for a while. Sit down.

Introspect.

Ask yourself what is it that you want to know at this very moment. Write things down if it helps.

But most importantly, trust your intuition.

It might not sound logical at the moment, but when you write it down, formalise it, can help you gain confidence in following your intuitions.

Embrace Imperfections

I almost write about imperfection in every blog I post. While it might be aligned to the central theme of spirituality and creativity in my writings; here there is a bit different angle to it.

Be ready for mistakes.

Life is not what you read in the memoirs.

Memoirs are written, rewritten, edited and re-edited to evoke an image of perfection.

No one is born with an understanding of what he wants to do in life.

The struggle to understand what you want to do and how things are happening is called life.

Perfection is a myth.

Rationality and Emotion

Emotions can be irrational, and rationality can be brutal.

We need to strike a balance of both.

A step on rational and a step on emotional quotient may lead to an outcome which is not only blissful but also useful.

For you and others.

Acknowledging emotions allows for empathy and perspective, enhancing your decision-making.

Effective emotional management involves recognizing emotions without being controlled by them

Encourage Reflective Practices

Set aside time for journaling, meditation and reflective practices like writing down what you are feeling.

This exercise helps you gain clarity about your values and aspirations.

Introspection.

Self-Compassion – What do you do for yourself?

I have a cousin who always remarks — “You should monetise this”

I love her, but I don’t take her advice to heart.

I know some somethings are for me and only me.

I have piles and piles of writing that no one has read yet.

Once in a while, I do share it in a very close and intimate circle, the purpose of the writing is not to be published.

It is sacred in that sense.

Life would be nothing but a burnout if you only keep doing things that have a purpose attached to them.

Keep a corner for yourself, where you are allowed to make everything about you and maybe sometimes about the people who care in the inner circle.

Exclusivity is also an abstraction.
