Beyond Escapism: Discovering Inner Silence in a Noisy World

SILENCE TRANSFORMS

Finding silence is understanding the absence of noise.

By Daigo

Modern man in search of silence, is the master of escapism.

He wants freedom from the bondage of 9to5 grind.

He wants to feel happy, and satisfied.

But there is a problem with this quest. He has been searching for freedom in the wrong places.

Happiness is not pleasure, satisfaction is not contentment.

Recreational activities are escapism—yet another activity.

Nothing more than adding to the tiresome schedule of 9to5.

You don’t feel content when you spend time at a picnic spot or in a Pub.

It is good for enjoyment, but it hardly does any good to your core feeling of fulfilment.

There is a calling within, which persists in becoming silent.

The silence itself trying to manifest the silence in your life.

In you, in your work, in every walk of life.

We ignore these signs, due to habitual patterns in our thinking that we need to be engaged in some or other activity.

This is the very reason why prayers and meditations go in vain.

It is an activity. Doing something.

The doing has to seize and the doer has to disappear.

To be silent is not to go to church, mosques or temples. These are noisiest places to search for the silence.

To be silent is not to escape your routine and do something else for a change either.

To be silent is to be aware of this moment and acknowledge that the silence is just the absence of the noise.

The noise of the prayers, the noise of the office chatter and the absence of the thoughts.

Thoughtlessness.

It can be found where you are, right now, right here.

Hence to practice spirituality is a different affair than practising religion.

Religion can be one way towards the spirit, but not the only way.

Moreover, once you find your spirit and silence within, religiousness amplifies to its true meaning.

Scripture speaks to the what is, and not what is trying to be something — ego.

I pray to be silent as I work and write these articles to be silent.

I am silence whenever I do anything.

The ultimate goal of life is to bring silence to whatever you are doing.

Liberate your mind from ego thinking.

From the constant need to do meaningless acts, just to escape the silence.

It is a dichotomy.

You are searching for silence by destroying it.

Be with yourself, and accept what you are. And you will garner the courage to be with yourself.

Your good deeds and your sins are part of your. They are nothing more than a label.

A flower is incomplete without the thorns, it is not ashamed of them. It blossoms and celebrates its existence like it is the last day or moment on this planet.

Complete and inclusive.

Said so, it is silent about it. It doesn’t have any need to proclaim that it is silent.

To proclaim the silence is to break the silence.

Once you find the inner silence and dissolve into it, every act and creation is the testimony of that silence.

If you paint you draw from the vast-silent emptiness.

Dynamic expression.

If you play music it is a divine play with the silence.

Your act becomes service and your art becomes objective.

It no longer only resonates with the individual consciousness but speaks and becomes one with the collective consciousness.

It no longer has the power to engage, but it can disengage from the false — egoistic notions of being.

You will no longer be called an artist, a businessman or anything for that matter.

You are everything and everyone — Silence transforms.

From one form to another. A journey from doing to being.

The liberated mind becomes what you are doing at that very moment.
