Sound in the Buddha's ear

THE UNIVERSE IN YOUR EARS

Where does the sound come from?

By Daigo

Around four years ago, I started hearing shh sound in my ears.

I went to many doctors to check my ears. They suspected it was Tinnitus. But I wasn’t going crazy.

I was becoming more and more silent.

I knew it had to be related to spirituality and my meditation practice.

I didn’t initially want to write about this experience, but I am sure many seekers need to read this.

Because I have found the answer the hard way and navigated through a lot of confusion to find the truth.

I used to ask about this sound to every sadhu, master and mystic I met on my journey, about the sound in my ear.

I was determined to find the answer. And I searched for it in every possible place, from ashrams to scriptures.

Finally, I formed an understanding of the sound I will be living with for the rest of my life.

There weren’t any physical and medical explanations for the sound.

I tried medicine and exercise as prescribed by the physician.

It is the nature of humans to seek answers to the mysteries of life within.

I sought the answer.

Some physical symptoms you might experience

You might experience some pain in the ears and slight infections too.

I went to a couple of ear specialists and they could not diagnose any medical condition.

I used many drops but it did not subside.

As time passed it went away.

I have spoken to people who went through the same experience, and it was likewise.

Don’t worry about the physical symptoms if doctors fail to diagnose it as a medical condition.

It is not outside

This world is a reflection of you.

You are the crystal that spreads the light of five sensory experiences in existence.

What you see has arisen from you, what you touch has arisen from you.

You experience, because you have created the experience.

The experience is nothing without you being present.

When my baby nephew screeches he screeches in me.

When the temple bell rings it rings in you.

“Hearing the sound of the bell as the sound of one’s mind is a hard level to achieve for a spiritual practitioner because it means that one’s ego has melted away.” — Master Baek

I have experienced this while sitting in meditation and otherwise.

When I heard the stream flowing in the zen garden, the water was flowing through my chest.

The liberated mind takes the form of whatever it is focused on.

You become the sound that you hear and vibrate to its frequency.

The sound was already there — Natural frequency

I was in Dokusan with Master Karl Hooper in a Zen/Christian Ashram in Kodaikanal India.

Dokusan is a personal meeting with the master where you can ask questions and solve koans with seasoned masters and Zen practitioners.

Although I was solving koans with another master, I presented the question of sound in the ears to Master Karl Hooper.

He was kind to answer; “They are sounds of the pulse, you are fine unless you are not going crazy. Are you going crazy?” He asked.

The sound was always there. You have become so silent that you are hearing it for the first time.

That is the goal of meditation.

Become so silent that you hear your heartbeat — Meera

Become the sound

I meditate on the sound once in a while.

When I meditate unintentionally the sound is always there.

When you abide by the silence within, you become the sound.

Your being is the sound, and the sound is the vibration of the cosmos.

Let it grow, until you disappear and only sound remains.

Your sphere of presence will start expanding beyond the boundaries of the body, speech and mind.

Your influence will not be limited to the superficial nature of conversation and connections, you will touch the heart of the person you touch.

Your innocence will blossom and animals and babies will be attracted to you.

When I was back to my home town from my solo bike ride My house was full of kids from the neighbourhood.

Currently, my nephews are living with me, the toddler can’t get enough of me.

Disappear. And you can be so many beautiful things in the world.

You will become the world, universe and cosmos.

Listen. Listen Silently.

Universe.
