BE STILL
The beauty of incremental growth

Life is not an affair of a day. Life is lifelong.
As long as you spend time on this earth, life goes on.
And so the affair with the life. A play that has millions of acts to it and thousands of episodes.
It is beautiful to live a long life and live it in a moment.
But at this very moment, it seems like nothing is happening.
Rightly so, nothing is happening at this moment.
A moment begins and resolves in another moment.
This feeling leaves many of us in May.
Maybe you have written a beautiful article and no one has read it.
Maybe you have created a wonderful painting and no one has seen it.
Maybe you have sowed a seed in your garden and it has not sprouted.
Yet.
It has not sprouted yet. It doesn’t mean it will not.
If you close your eyes and stare into the vast emptiness within, in a thoughtless state, nothing is happens there.
It is silent, unmoving.
And when you open your eyes you see everything moving around.
We live on the edge of knowing and unknowing. On the centre of moving and unmoving.
No matter what we cannot comprehend everything in the inner and outer world.
Life happens when nothing is happening. A change, that is subtle, incremental. Moment to moment.
Get into the creative flow and work. When your work is done, step back.
When you are not working something else is working.
A divine power within and without takes care of everything else.
The seed that you have sowed sprouts into a seedling and grows into a tree.
If you keep watching it every day, you will feel like nothing is happening.
A mango tree in my garden has grown so big it bears hundreds of fruits each year.
When I reflect on the day I planted it right in the middle of the garden, I wonder when it grew.
The process of life has its beautiful way of growth.
If you are ambitious and looking for a revolution rather than evolution; you are bound to meet disappointment.
Reality is depressing for the person who spends most of the time in fantasy.
Away from himself, drifted by the thoughts in the vast ocean of confusion.
Reality is fantastic for the person who is anchored in the present moment.
Detached from the outcome, you no longer linger on the facts, data and what is happening to what you have created.
You keep on creating, you become the creation.
You are no longer there, the world disappears with its false notions of right and wrong.
Following are some points that help me navigate the unknown while operating in the world.
I hope it will help you too.
Do not waiver
Even if god stands in front of you, do not waiver from your core, from your being.
There is nothing else that matters most.
You will be confronted with the demons of shallow criticism, and gods of hollow praises.
There is nothing to exorcise and nothing to pray for.
Be empty and let the creativity flow through. There will be wonders, there will be nightmares that will be served in the empty pot of mind.
Do not waiver. Be still. Let it happen.
You are the mere medium of the sins, you are just a medium of the holy deeds.
You do nothing but let things happen.
This is a true honour. Homage to the spirit within the realms of your mind.
A spirit that urges from within to create, your true calling.
Following your calling and making incremental progress is a giant step into the future.
Future that is yet to be known.
Writing was the last thing on my mind today. But I showed up, made myself available to the flow and words started emerging on the screen.
Automatic.
You are no one
Lose yourself.
Your father wanted you to be a son, your mother wanted you to be a better dancer.
The world wants you to get married and have kids.
The world is always uncomfortable with everything.
People in general don’t like themselves, and as a result, they see changing the world would solve their problem.
This is the very reason why activists are so passionate about changing everything.
And you create your image by the judgement of outer circumstances.
You are no one. Have the courage to acknowledge this.
You are not a mother, father, brother, son, friend, foe anything.
You assume these roles and leave them behind when the purpose is solved.
Now
“Now” is more important than “then”.
Change no matter how small happens now.
It is beautiful to see one reaction from a thoughtful person instead of a flood of shallow spam responses.
Moreover, there is bliss in doing things that you allow yourself to do while being in the present moment.
Life is happening Now, the wonders of life are happening Now and the beauty you are seeking from past to present, from mosque to church is right within you. Now.
Always meditate
People tend to go to the caves and retreat to meditate.
Some take time out of the day and proclaim “I make sure to meditate for an hour”.
Bring meditation to life from your sessions.
Let every act be an act of awareness.
When you pick up the warm mug of tea.
When you are reading the book.
Or When you are working in your office.
Spirituality is useless if not applied to life. You as a spiritual person are useless to the world if you are not available to live.
The very goal of spirituality is to live the life not to discard it.
The very goal of being is to meditate every moment, not constrain it within the hours and retreats.
Let every act be meditative.
Meditate, always.
It is beautiful to live a long life and live it in a moment.
